—Romans 7:1-13
by: Lisa Moore.
The role the Law played in Jewish lives was significant. Throughout the book of Romans, Paul explained that the Law no longer had dominion over believer’s lives because of Christ. Like Jesus, Paul explained a difficult concept using an example from ordinary life: death ends all contractual obligations, therefore when a woman’s husband died, she was legally free to marry again without being labeled an adulteress. Because of the finished work of Christ, we become dead to the Law (no longer living as though adherence to the Law can save us) and married to Jesus (saved by grace through faith).
