We hear, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” so often—but how does it connect to the freedom to which we are called? Does freedom not mean the right for me to do whatever is best for me? It does not, because all people are equal as image bearers of God. Loving our neighbors as ourselves reminds us of that equal treatment. Freedom means we are equal in access to God, equal in leadership by the Spirit, and equal in our responsibility to one another as brethren. Never let your right to freedom trump another’s right to live by the Spirit of righteousness.'
