—Romans 6:1-12
by: Trisha Gerstel.
In this fallen world we are regularly faced with temptations that, in their worldly acceptance, appear “good”. The world urges us to put ourselves first, to covet our neighbors’ possessions, and to get even with those who have done us harm—and it praises those who do just that! When we face these types of temptations, it can be helpful to meditate on what it means to be, “dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus” (v.11). In these words, Paul has told us that, through Christ’s sacrifice, we have the ability to turn our hearts away from sin and toward God. Amen.
