—Matthew 12:14-21
by: Ashea West.
Jesus knew that the Pharisees were plotting to kill Him. However, He did not call them out on that fact. How do we respond when people are plotting for our downfall? Even in the face of the enemy, Jesus remained humble. Isaiah had prophesied that He would not quarrel or cry out (v.19); he even used the imagery of a bruised reed that Jesus would not break (v.20). Something that seems so trivial and unimportant, Jesus would not partake in its destruction. Are we quick to quarrel when we feel attacked? Do we feel justified in doing so because the enemy is attacking us? Let us look to Jesus as our example in these situations.
