The Psalmist made quite a list of things he could have feared but did not. Why was he not afraid? Because God was his refuge and strength. God not only hides those He loves from danger, but also gives them strength to stand during the fearful times. I think the key comes in verse 10 as we obey the command to be “still” (NIV), knowing He is God, and exalting Him. Praise can overcome fear of both the known and the unknown; and praising God brings us closer to Him. If we are busy fretting, we will drown out His voice, preventing the peace. Be still today and be confident in the Lord as your refuge.'
