Spring is one of my favorite times of the year. Where I live in Wisconsin, the winters are long, cold, dark, and dreary, with either so much snow that all one sees is white or not much snow, but everything being brown and dead. Spring comes, the sun shines brightly, and the spring rains are often gentle, refreshing, watering the earth so that the grass turns green and the flowers appear, blessing the earth with a renewed riot of color. So it is with God. In the darkness of our sin, he revives us. His love and mercy flow over us like the gentle spring rain.
