—Luke 24:25-27, 44-47; Isaiah 53:5-8
by: Linda Lawton.
In this passage from Luke, Jesus explained to His disciples the meaning of the Isaiah passage, and all the other prophecies about Him, beginning with Moses and the Prophets. He “opened their minds” (v.45) to understand and to believe. Why was His suffering necessary? It was necessary so that “repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations” (v.47). Since, then, this was the reason for Christ’s suffering, what are we as His disciples doing? What are you doing to see that all the nations have heard?
