—Romans 10:5-13

When a new person walks into our church, do we put on our “judgment glasses” to evaluate whether or not this is a person worthy of joining our community? Do we look at things like appearance, job, bank account, skill set, sense of humor and the all important “weirdness factor?” This passage helps us to understand that, just like “Jew” and “Greek,” in Christ these are artificial distinctions. What matters is, have they called on the name of the Lord for salvation. If they have, welcome them as a brother or sister in Christ. If not, begin to share with them the gospel message.
