—Numbers 14:1-12
by: Irene B. Saunders.
Pioneers leave their home countries to find a better life. When the storms arose, disease, hostile Indians, and pestilence came upon them, some continued to trust God and kept going. Others gave up. In Numbers 14, the Children of Israel did not want to continue because they believed the false reports of the ten spies. They said, “We should choose a leader and go back to Egypt” (Numbers 14:4). The “pioneers” of Joshua and Caleb kept their faith in God and believed he would bring them into the Promised Land with honor and blessing. Our “promised land” is in sight. Let us keep the faith and press on to claim it!
