Imagine that the enemy is watching your every move, staring at your every twitch, recording your every word, and savoring your every mistake. With that image, it is easy to understand why Peter tells us the adversary is like a roaring lion seeking a meal (1 Peter 5:8).
Paul uses a different image here. In this description, the adversary is more like a junior reporter waiting for the first big scoop. He is watching, waiting, taking pictures, and hoping that you will give him something to plaster all over the front page. Don't let the enemy pounce. Make them shut down that newspaper because they've run out of stories.
