While preparing for a mission trip, I was plagued with questions. What did I have to offer? How could it possibly be worth it for me to go? Should I not just send the money I would spend on my ticket to help with needs there? A Zambian man counseled me to, “stop thinking like a North American.” He reminded me that I was going to visit my brothers and sisters in Christ. “Family visits revolve around love, not the gifts you bring or the help you provide. Start with love rather than trying to justify the financial transaction. Start with love and your service and gifts will naturally be more abundant than you ever imagined.”
