—Titus 3:7-11
by: Andrew J. Camenga.
I have heard it said that "No good deed goes unpunished." In fact, I've lived through a couple of times when that saying seemed to be quite true. The punishment came in a variety of forms and lingered for a variety of reasons. It wasn't fun. I identified quite closely with one of last week's verses, "all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted" (2 Timothy 3:12).
Yet, the discomfort that can come with compassionate acts is profitable. Paul's warning about persecution was not a command to back off; it was a simple warning to let people know what was coming. Punished or unpunished, God has called us to walk in good deeds. Let us do just that.
