—Psalm 113
by: Leota Stevens.
The theme from Psalm 24 is expressed in different detail in this selection of scripture. Here we witness a more defined description of the tender mercies of our Almighty God in the phrase, “who stoops down to look on the heavens and the earth” (verse 6, NIV). To humble one’s self is to set aside right and privilege and power for the benefit of, or deferment to, another. God does not have to take us into consideration, but he does. The one whose words called forth life’s creation from a chaotic void can also change our circumstances and our hearts by the indwelling of the incarnate word.
