—1 Timothy 1:1-11
by: Susan Bond.
When my husband enlisted in the U.S. Navy, his Uncle Tom gave him some advice: “The shortest distance between two points is a straight line. Walk it.”
Paul seems to be saying the same thing to Timothy; with Christ as the focal point, there should be no turning “aside unto vain jangling” (v. 6, KJV). Christ is all that’s needed. Look at what he imparts: grace, mercy and peace (v. 2). In other words, everything good that you don’t deserve, nothing bad that you do deserve, and peace like no other.
