To please God we must learn not to depend on the works of the people before us, or rest on our salvation and the security that we are going to Heaven. We must learn to be content with what we have, show kindness and mercy to others, and repent when we do wrong against man or against God. For just as John told the people that he baptized, God will not allow us to prosper if we do not do good for him. Producing good fruit is a requirement of being a Christian. God expects us to bear good fruit, not to continue to draw from the land we are living in without giving back. To please God and do right, we should be content with what God has given us.
