Pride, in it's natural form, may resemble a sticky, cotton candy-like sort of substance, which when stuck in one's ears produces temporary loss of hearing God's word. Fortunately for Naaman, he didn't have too much pride stuck in his ears when his wife's Israelite servant girl spoke about Elisha. God's word got through to Naaman, but it could have been lost in a sticky, sweet mess on either side of his head. The same, of course, goes for us. We have to clean out the pride whether it is in the ears, heart, head, job, family, church, etc. if we want to hear God's word.
