We’ve all heard the claims of diet sodas and foods: they taste just like the original! I don’t think any of us believe that. Here, Paul writes about people who have a form of godliness or religious devotion, but are rotten at the core. They have settled for ‘faith-lite’ rather than the real thing: pursuit of God above all else and trust in his power to transform. The result is that they look good, but there is nothing beneath the surface. Are there places you have settled for ‘faith-lite’ rather than a deep, enduring faith? How can you choose a real pursuit of God instead, and trust in his power to change you at the core of your being?
