—Psalm 14:1-6
by: Angie Osborn.
In today’s world, you don’t have to look far to find evil. It is everywhere. We find it in the film-making industry, schools, our neighborhoods, and, sometimes, even in our churches. As a mother of young children, I sometimes find myself grieving over the world where they are growing up. Satan seems to be finding new ways into our lives at every turn. It is easy to look at what is happening in the world and feel very hopeless.
Even when evil appears to be everywhere and the world seems to be on a hopeless, downward spiral, we can remain hopeful. Our hope is not of this world, but from the heavenly realm. We can put our hope, trust, concerns, worries, and faith in the God of the universe. Rest assured—he is in control, despite the appearance from our viewpoint. The psalmist reminds us, “…the Lord is our refuge” (v. 6). Cling to that promise and live in hope.
