We teach our children, for the most part, to be independent-which is good. We also need to teach them to be committed-which is better. When we don't teach them to be committed, it is no wonder that when things get tough they fight with others, run away from home, quit their jobs, and trade in their spouse. Christians face numerous difficult situations because of our faith. We should allow the perilous times to reinforce our allegiance to the Bread of Life.
My seven-year old daughter said, "Mommy, this medicine tastes bad, but I'll take it because it makes me feel better." Are you convinced that Jesus will make you better? Then, eat his flesh and drink his blood without complaining! Love him for who he is, not how he looks or what he tastes like. By the way, the psalmist said he tastes good (34:8).
