—Mark 10:13-22
by: Paul Andries.
Mark makes two points in this section: (1) be willing to be associated with children, and (2) be willing to part with what you have so that the poor may have. It is striking that both spoke about giving and not getting anything back from the recipients.
What is your motive for giving? Are you giving to get? Are you willing to have less so that someone else might have more? Are you willing to give up a life of present riches for a life of future riches? It's sad, but so true, the man with much property wanted to live comfortably while the poor around him lived in discomfort. How can we identify with children and the poor, if we don't know or see their needs?
