—1 Corinthians 1:26-31
by: Victoria Shephard.
We don’t have to be mentally smart, physically strong, or of noble birth to come to Christ. Many in the Corinthian church were not these things, and neither are many of us. But God uses the very traits that humankind despises to show the poverty of riches and power. We are “jars of clay” (2 Corinthian 4:7, NIV) and comparatively weak. Yet God is shown strong in our weakness. Why does God do this? Because God is preeminent and wants no one to usurp his power by being able to boast.
