—Philippians 2:1-4
by: Leota Stevens.
This passage of scripture reminds me of an old song by Roger Miller. The song is stating the obvious in a somewhat backward approach when it says, “… If that’s not lovin’ you, then all I’ve got to say is, God didn’t make the little green apples, it don’t rain in Indianapolis in the summer time, there’s no such thing as Dr. Seuss, Disneyland, Mother Goose, no nursery rhymes.” The lyricist wrote simple words to convey the message that his love was obvious. Paul wrote to the Philippians what was obvious to them—that there is great consolation, love, affection and mercy in fellowship with Christ. Jesus is the pattern for all our relationships with each other and with the world around us.
