—1 Corinthians 7:1-5
by: Maryann Palmer.
Corinthian culture condoned sexual promiscuity, and some believers had reverted. They didn’t become perfect at conversion, any more than we did, and were still subject to temptation. The Message says, “…Sexual drives are strong, but marriage is strong enough to contain them and provide for a balanced and fulfilling sexual life in a world of sexual disorder…” (Does this sound like the world around you?) “… Marriage is not a place to ‘stand up for your rights.’ Marriage is a decision to serve the other …” Can we give up both our “rights” and our “wrongs” to please the Master?
