It is interesting to observe how people seem to like going to extremes. We can see this whether you are talking about how opposites attract in a marriage or the slogans used in politics. Christians often go into extremes as well-both doctrinally and experientially.
Romans 6 deals with those who take liberty in Christ as a license to live in sin. Here, Paul has strong words for those who claim to be free but choose to remain in bondage to the law by the way they live. There is nothing wrong with striving to be obedient to God's commands-the problem occurs when we try to substitute rules for a relationship with Christ.
