—John 8:1-9
by: Angie Osborn.
Recently, I discussed, with one of my wise aunts, a relationship a friend is in. As I told her all the things that concerned me about the relationship, my aunt listened. At one point, she remarked that it easy for those of us on the outside to see all of the reasons why a relationship shouldn’t or doesn’t work, but only the people in the relationship really understand why it does work.
Likewise, it is easy for us to see the faults and sins of others. It is easy to judge while we deny and hide our own shortcomings. Yet, Jesus understands each of us. He knows we are sinners—he could condemn us but chose not to. Instead, he paid the price for our sins. He does not condemn us, but encourages us to leave our lives of sin. As Christians, we should rejoice and be willing to be imitators of Christ.
