—Psalm 105:1-11
by: Leanne Lippincott.
My mother was plagued by anxiety and depression most of her adult life. When I was a high school freshman, she had her first nervous breakdown, and I wasn’t allowed to visit her for two months. It sounds strange now, but I had trouble remembering what she looked like. I ended up studying the photo that was propped on top of the piano. Her smiling visage gave me a sense of peace and filled me with the hope that we would see each other again. And we did.
This psalm tells us to look to the Lord for strength and“seek his face always” (v. 4). Except for his contemporaries, no one knows precisely what Jesus looked like. But when I picture him, I see a face that radiates kindness, gentleness, and love. His smiling, compassionate visage gives me a sense of peace and fills me with the hope that will see each other some day. And we will.
