—Job 2:1-10
by: Dale E. Rood.
In this we get a picture of how nasty Satan is. In verse 3, God indicates that Satan was trying to persuade God to “destroy him (Job) without cause.” Do you see Satan’s motive here is a purposeless destruction of that in which God delights? He has no identity other than to be “against God.” Even in this time when Satan is allowed to touch Job’s body, God still sets bounds Satan cannot cross. In the face of affliction and in the face of rejection by his own wife, Job clings to God. Like Peter in John 6:68, Job is crying out, “Lord, to whom else can I go?” Job’s answer to that question is obvious.
