—Galatians 5:6-10
by: Nick Kersten.
Continuing his argument from the previous verses, Paul continued to state the underlying goal of the life of faith—to express itself in love. Paul developed a contrast between making attempts to seek standing before Christ through outward physical activities (in this case, circumcision) and the inward condition of the heart, which Paul suggests is of greater worth. His warning to the Galatians to return to this path should stand as a warning to us—the world is constantly attempting to move us from living a life of love through faith to something which is not based on love, but on selfishness and self-justification.
