—Psalm 19:7-14
by: Linda Harris.
The Hebrew word translated “law” (19:7) is torah. This word is familiar to most of us, as it refers to the first five books of the Bible. But the word also means instruction or revelation. The psalmist wasn’t just writing about keeping rules; he intended to show that God’s instructions make “the heart glad” and “the eyes light up” (19:8, HCSB). How does God’s Word make your heart glad and your eyes light up?
Warren Wiersbe writes, “The way we treat the Bible is the way we treat the Lord, so it isn’t difficult to determine if we are rightly related to God. … To have an appetite for God’s Word is a mark of healthy Christian whose priorities are straight.” How do you treat the Bible? Do you have a healthy appetite for it?
