I wonder how the magistrates and officers felt when they found out that Paul and Silas were Roman citizens. I would think they were a little embarrassed; they had mistreated two people they thought were lowly foreigners and then found out that they had privileged status! I can commiserate, having misjudged people in my own life. But even if I always judge right, does it matter what people wear, how much money they make, or how intelligent they are? God didn’t pick and choose people to invite to his wedding feast—he loves us all indiscriminately and lavishly. Who am I to make a distinction?
