—Genesis 28:10-17
by: Stephanie Sholtz.
Imagine Jacob’s situation as he traveled. His parents have sent him away to protect him from a brother who wishes to murder him. He is headed toward a land where he knows no one. This was most likely a difficult journey for him—he was described as a mild man and a homebody in Chapter 25. He was at a crossroads where he could follow through with the plan, or he could decide it’s too difficult and give up. God chose this moment of confusion and loneliness to appear to Jacob.
God reaches out to the brokenhearted. He wishes to give us comfort and hope, if we will allow him to speak to our hearts.
