—Mark 7:24-30
by: Nathanael Lawton.
Jesus came first to God’s chosen people, Israel. In this passage, he refers to them as “children” (v. 27) and says that he needs to work on their needs first. The Gentile woman has faith in the tremendous power of Christ. She says that the miraculous and life-changing gift of freedom from the demon for her daughter is like a little “crumb” (v. 28) by the same metaphor that Jesus used. Her faith was rewarded, and the revelation of God’s power to the gentiles would continue. Acts 10–11 contains a good example of this expanding revelation.
