—Isaiah 26:1-6
by: Andrew J. Camenga.
The "what if" game is quite time-consuming. Start with a simple question that seems germane. "What if" I dropped these keys while standing over that grate? Follow it up with something that isn't so likely. "What if" right after I drop the keys a car parks on top of the grate? Then imagine even worse situations. "What if" the grate is welded to a frame that is permanently set in the ground? "What if" the grate is electrified and the person getting out of the car that is parked on top of the grate gets out of the car with a gun in his hand and demands to have my car keys now? It is a game guaranteed to waste time and to increase your capacity for worry.
These verses remind us that anytime we start the "what if" game, we need to place our trust in God's ability to create good. Perfect peace is there for those who trust in God.
