This section is a good example of true hospitality. Abraham saw some “strangers in his land” and invited them in. How do we do when we see “strangers in our land”? When someone new comes to church, do we greet them warmly and offer them comfort, or do we assume that someone else will do that? Do we accept them with open arms and help them to feel included in the body? It is not always easy to be hospitable, even at church. It is often unnerving to greet new people: what will I say to them, what if I feel uncomfortable? Sometimes God calls us to welcome others into the fold even when we don’t want to. If the church doesn’t welcome them, who will?
