—Nehemiah 2:6-10
by: Jean Jorgensen.
Nehemiah’s careful planning, gathering of knowledge, and communication with God allowed him to make decisions based on knowledge, not on fear. The broken down walls were clearly evident. The people were enduring ridicule and feared the King’s punishment and war with their neighbors if they tried to rebuild the walls. At the right time, God raised up Nehemiah into leadership. He focused on the core issue of why rebuilding the walls was important. In our lives, discerning God’s desires versus our own ideas is difficult. God’s timing is all the difference between success and failure. We cannot know God’s time is right without steady communication with Him.
