—Nehemiah 2:5, 11-20
by: Jean Jorgensen.
Nehemiah’s love for God, reassurance that the time was right, and love for the people and their restoration were the motivating forces for support. His love and confidence allowed them to override fear. He didn’t command, “I have power from the King—do as I say.” He was willing to be a leader, and he realized the enormity of the project and the need for devotion from everyone. The people had a mind to work (Nehemiah 4:6), and God “strengthened their hands for a good work” (Nehemiah2:18, KJV). They did not sit by waiting for God to do something miraculous. Their actions witnessed God’s grace and power. Do you have a “mind to work” in the church but fear keeps you silent?
