—2 Samuel 9:1-7, 9-12
by: Gabrielle Watt.
As mentioned earlier this week, David’s and Saul’s households were not very friendly towards each other. Beyond that, David was very much an enemy of Saul’s. Despite this, David purposefully sought out someone from Saul’s household in order to extend them the kindness of God. Why did he do this? I encourage you to take a look at 1 Samuel 20 to find out. He ended up being told that Mephibosheth, a son of Jonathan, was still alive. This man was the son of David’s dearest friend, and was at one point an heir to the throne, and David treated him as such.
