Jewish prayers begin with, “Baruch atah Adonai, Eloheinu, Melech ha’olam,” or, in English, “Blessed art Thou O Lord, our God, King (Sovereign) of the universe.” Many times per day, the first prayers off their lips are a blessing to God. In weekly Sabbath services, the wives are blessed by the husbands and visa versa, and the whole congregation blesses the children. There is something miraculous that happens in the giving of a blessing. Satan lays guilt and shame, but God’s Kingdom, by contrast, is one of blessing. Blessings go first to God, then they come back and go out again endlessly.
