—Exodus 18:13-26
by: Kay Samuels.
Listen to wise counsel. Moses felt the responsibility to hear all the complaints of the people. However, Jethro had a better idea. He advised Moses to teach the people God’s ways and to choose others to help him settle disputes. Moses acted upon the advice and things went much better. Teaching the people how to settle disputes also became an opportunity to teach them about God. It is so important for us to learn what God wants us to do and how He wants us to live. One other thing to learn from Moses is that one cannot do it all—shared responsibilities make the job easier.
