—2 Samuel 3:1-5; 5:1-5
by: Gabrielle Watt.
Even after the death of Saul, his house and David’s house continued to fight for a time that was not quick and painless. For several years, Judah was the only tribe of Israel that acknowledged David as King of Israel (2 Samuel 2:10-11). During that time, David had six sons with six different women. In the beginning of chapter five, we see that eventually all the tribes of Israel came to accept David as an Israelite, as a leader, and as their King. I encourage you to read through chapters 2-5 to get the full picture of this story.
