—Judges 2:11-17
by: Jennifer Lewis Berg.
The greatest weakness of youth is believing that they know better than anyone older. There was a saying, “Never trust anyone over thirty.” It may be true that youth may actually be “wasted on the young.” The greatest gift that a young person could wish for would be strength of character. By the time a young person sees the wisdom of his elders, he may be an elder himself. God’s people had weak characters. They yielded wholeheartedly to false gods and sin. So God let them fall and let them experience the pain of rejection and judgment.
