—Hebrews 12:1-6
by: Jerry Johnson.
I have always wondered what it would be like to be a triathlete competing in the Ironman competition in Hawaii: swimming 2.4 miles, cycling 112 miles, and then running a marathon. How is it possible for a human being to endure so much punishment in one day just to complete a race? The Christian life is a triathlon of sorts; those of us who enter the race are not promised an easy task.
Hebrews 12 offers two examples of inspiration. First are the historical examples of all those faithful witnesses recorded in the Bible. Then we have Jesus Christ himself, whom we need to fix our eyes upon to reach that finish line.
