—Psalm 135:1-5
by: Linda Harris.
Psalm 135 calls for praise from God’s people, beginning with the priests in the temple. When the temple was completed, priests and people alike were free to praise God continually. Verse 3 ends with the Hebrew word naim, which means pleasant, lovely, gracious, or delightful. Commentators disagree whether this word describes God, his name, or the act of praising him. It makes little difference, since all of these are true.
How would you describe God? Do you view him as gracious? Is his name pleasant and lovely to you? Is praising his name a delightful experience?
