—Genesis 27:41-45
by: Stephanie Sholtz.
Esau became so consumed in his hatred of Jacob that he was unable to care about those things that were important to him. He does not think about the consequences for committing murder, nor does he consider what his plan will do to his family. He only seeks vengeance. Once he allowed anger and self-pity a foothold in his life, he became a twisted and murderous man. We are instructed not to sin in anger (Ephesians 4:26). Although anger can sometimes be used productively as a catalyst to bring about change, we are not to allow anger to direct our steps or to lead us into sin.
