I can be very stubborn at times. Once my mind is made up about something, I don’t like to look at other possibilities. If someone tells me I can’t do something, I often feel the stubborn need to prove them wrong. This stubbornness can get in the way of doing what is right. I might be trying to make things work out in the way I think best when God is trying to show me a different path. Isaac and Rebekah knew of God’s intentions for their sons before their sons were even born. However, Isaac loved Esau very much and he resisted God’s plan. His initial blessing of Jacob was unintentional. However his blessing in this passage shows his new understanding, acceptance, and obedience to God’s will.
