—Mark 10:17-31
by: Nathanael Lawton.
In this passage we see many ideas that seem strange in the reasoning of the world. Selling possessions and giving to the poor generates treasure in heaven (v. 21). It is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God (v. 25). Giving up homes, land, and family results in getting back much more (vs. 29, 30). The thinking of Christ must be different than our thinking. The way things work in the kingdom of God must be different than they are in the countries of man. It must be so because “many who are first will be last, and the last first,” (v. 31). Oh, for a mind like Christ’s to be able to understand such ideas and see things in this world as they should be seen!
