—Genesis 37:5-11
by: Linda Harris.
Joseph seemed unconcerned that his dreams would antagonize his brothers. Since he was only seventeen, we may attribute his actions to the overconfidence of youth. Perhaps he was right in telling his dreams, but could he have done it more diplomatically?
God prepared some lessons for Joseph; one was to temper his confidence with wisdom. As we speak what may be hard for others to hear, we should remember to speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15) and with wisdom.
