—Genesis 37:12-17
by: Linda Harris.
When Jacob sent Joseph out to find his brothers, he went willingly. He could have refused, not wanting to see the brothers who hated him so. But he said, “I’m ready to go” (37:13, NLT). When he couldn’t find his brothers, he persisted until he found them, rather than making an excuse: “I couldn’t find them.”
When God asks us to do something difficult, are we as willing as Joseph? I tend to drag my feet, sometimes kicking and screaming, when God says, “Go.” But immediate obedience and persistence until the job is done pleases God and brings far greater rewards than reluctance.
