—Matthew 26:36-41
by: Angie Osborn.
Jesus was troubled-deeply. He knew what was before him and that it was unavoidable. In his time of sorrow, fear, and doubt, he went to prayer. So often, we neglect to go to God in prayer. When the problems come, we often think we can fix them ourselves. When the pain is great, we try to beat it on our own. When things are overwhelming or hard, we may try to escape. We, like Christ, need to go first to prayer. God cares for us; he wants to help us. He already understands our situation and feelings better than we ourselves do. As the old hymn says, "Take it to the Lord in prayer!"
